They combine low weight with good thermal insulation and high structural rigidity. Today, such solutions are commonly used not only in industrial cold rooms, but also in refrigeration doors, technical enclosures and refrigerated transport vehicles.

Choosing the right sandwich panel depends mainly on working conditions and the expected durability of the material. In practice, two elements are particularly important — the type of core and the type of outer facing.

In refrigeration applications, XPS and PUR cores perform particularly well. They provide good thermal insulation and stable performance over time. However, even the best core will not guarantee long-term durability if the outer facing is not properly matched to the working environment.

One of the most commonly used solutions are sandwich panels with GFK / GFRP / FRP facings. Glass fibre reinforced materials perform very well in environments with high humidity and intensive use. They are corrosion-resistant, easy to clean and lightweight while maintaining high rigidity. Thanks to these properties, they are widely used in cold rooms, refrigerated transport bodies and technical enclosures.

Aluminium-faced sandwich panels are also popular in the refrigeration industry. Aluminium makes it possible to create lightweight constructions with a modern appearance and good corrosion resistance. These solutions are often used in refrigeration doors, insulated panels and lightweight industrial structures.

PVC facings are also commonly used in many refrigeration applications. Their main advantages include moisture resistance, easy cleaning and a good balance between cost and performance. PVC sandwich panels are particularly suitable for lightweight technical enclosures and internal insulation systems. In applications requiring a high level of hygiene, it is also important that our PVC sandwich panels hold a hygienic certificate issued by the Polish National Institute of Public Health (PZH).

Where increased mechanical resistance is required, steel facings are often used instead. These solutions are mainly applied in industrial cold rooms, warehouses and logistics facilities where materials must maintain high durability under intensive use.

In refrigeration applications, proper edge protection of the sandwich panel is also extremely important. Even a well-designed panel may gradually lose its properties if the edges remain exposed to moisture or mechanical damage. For this reason, additional protective profiles are often used to improve both durability and the tightness of the entire construction.

In practice, however, the material specification itself is only part of the solution. The production technology of the panel is equally important. Bonding quality, stress control, process repeatability and manufacturing precision all have a direct impact on the long-term stability of the panel. This is why two panels with apparently similar technical parameters may behave very differently after several years of use.

In refrigeration applications, the durability and stability of materials directly affect not only aesthetics and usability, but also the energy efficiency of the entire facility. For this reason, selecting the right sandwich panel should involve not only thermal performance and facing type, but also production quality and manufacturing technology.

In the refrigeration industry, the materials used for walls, doors and technical enclosures are far more important than they may seem at first glance.
